Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from the Browns!

This year I decided to make matching pajamas for Christmas. I think they turned out well. I haven't decided if it's going to be a tradition yet. I guess we will have to see.

Lights on Temple Square

While we were in Utah last weekend, we also saw the lights. It was so pretty and a great way to remember the reason for the season with the different nativities. It was fun to see them with my family. It rained a little but nothing too bad. Owen stayed bundled and slept but I'm sure he would have enjoyed them even more than our Christmas tree, which he stares out all the time.

Forever Families

Last weekend my aunt and uncle got sealed in the Draper, Utah temple. I am so grateful for temples and the priesthood. It was beautiful and I'm glad that I was able to attend. Families are so important to me and it helped me remember the same covenants I made when Andrew and I got married and sealed. We are so blessed to be able to be with our families for time AND all eternity.

My grandpa and grandma were at the reception so it was fun to see them. It had been about 4 years since I last saw them. They were excited to see and meet Owen.

O Holy Night

My mother-in-law gave me the board and vinyl for this craft. It was so easy and I really like how it turned out. It's a little bit different for a nativity but it's nice to not have a ton of pieces to have to keep track of.
All you need is a board, the vinyl, paint and a paint brush. I chose a dark blue so it was like a night. My mother-in-law used black so you really can pick what ever color you want.
Paint the board. Make sure it is all the way dry before you do the next step.
Press the vinyl onto the board and peel off the back. I used the end of the paint brush to make sure it will stick and not rip.

2 Months Old

Owen is 2 months old today!

  • He still gets the hiccups all the time but most of the time it doesn't make mad.
  • He has grown out of most of his new born clothes.
  • He rarely cries when we change his diaper.
  • He likes being in only his diaper which is now a size 1. They are a little big but new born are too small. I think they need a half size.
  • He like tummy time much more than he used to. He also is trying to roll when he is on tummy.
  • He really likes to look at the Christmas tree lights and fans when he is on his back. He also scoots in a circle when he is on his back because he moves and kicks his legs.
  • He coos and smiles a lot. It is so cute and he is not a quiet baby. Its fun to talk and make faces at him. He is so responsive.
  • He likes to sit on Andrew's lap and watch football, basketball or sports center.
  • He is sleeping in bigger chunks of time during the night which is nice for my sleeping as well.

Chicken Fingers

This seriously was so good. I couldn't get over it when I made it; I just kept telling Andrew, "This is sooo good. I am keeping this recipe. I can't wait to make it again." I was watching food network and they made this. I have also seen similar recipes on Pinterest.

Ingredients
           Chicken Fingers
     1 lbs chicken breast
     1/2 c flour
     1 egg
     1 Tbsp water
     1 c bread crumbs
           Sauce
     1 c brown sugar
     1/2 c BBQ sauce
     1 tsp garlic powder
     1 Tbsp water

Place flour in bag. Cut chicken into strips. Put chicken in back and shake until coated.
Mix water and egg together. Dunk chicken.
Then coat chicken in bread crumbs
Place on greased baking sheet. Cook for 18 minutes at 400
While the chicken is cooking make the sauce. Add everything together except the water. Bring to boil, Take off heat and stir in water. Place in container that you can also add the chicken in.

Shake the chicken with the sauce.
Allow to cool and
Enjoy!

PS. We dipped them in ranch which was really good.

Blessing Day

The Sunday after Thanksgiving Owen was blessed in Nevada. It was a very nice blessing and Owen slept through the whole thing. After sacrament meeting we went back to my parents house and had a brunch with all of the family.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving we went to California to visit Andrew's family. Andrew's sister, Haley came with us. It was especially nice because then I could sit in the back seat and Andrew didn't have to feel like a chauffeur. Owen did so good in the car. He mostly just woke up to eat and then would go back to sleep. It was good because it didn't make the trip too much longer than normal. We did have to stop once, in the dark at a creepy rest stop to feed him. Andrew parked in the middle of the parking lot and kept the car running so that we could get away quick if anything sketchy were to happen. I thought it was funny but I guess its better to be safe than sorry.

Owen got to meet his uncle Brandon.

One day we went to the beach and it was 77 degrees! We had a backpack carrier for Owen and he really liked it and slept most of the day while we walked down the beach, looked at tide pools, climbed rocks, explored caves and enjoyed the warmth. We ate at the famous Splash Cafe and had their amazing clam chowder. It's in a bread bowl and topped with shrimp and crab, making it even better. It was crazy thinking that Thanksgiving was only a few days away with it being so warm.

Another day we went to Andrew's aunt's house and Owen got to meet more family. He really liked his cousin Jessica. She was really sweet with him and they just "chatted" to each other. He doesn't normally like when people are close to his face but he didn't mind one bit with her.

We also went to a friendsgiving for pie with Andrew's friends. It was a fun to see them again. We also went to pie night at one of his friend's parents house. We ate a lot of pie that week which is okay with me!

The rest of the week we just hung out, watched movies, I worked on a puzzle, and took naps. It is always nice to get away especially when family is involved. Holidays are just the best.
